GREAT YARMOUTH, U.K. — Wintershall Noordzee has expanded the scope of a five-year contract awarded to IVB (Inspection Verification Bureau) in the southern North Sea.

The verification services program now applies to 19 platforms and one onshore facility in the Dutch sector.

“We can see the industry looking at gas storage again, and we are expecting this to be a target for us," said IVB technical director Matt Chapman. “We are also currently in discussion with a client developing a waste to energy system.”

Other current programs for the company include a contract with TotalEnergies Nederlands, which started six years ago, verification work offshore Egypt and newbuild projects in the Middle East.

A U.K. client has midwater buoyancy tanks under construction near Dubai, and IVB is supplying quality control of the fabrication. This is an extension of a job that has been going on for a couple of years.

“We do a lot of inspection and verification work in the Great Yarmouth area for local companies making equipment for offshore gas installations and renewables,” Chapman said.
