KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia  Hibiscus Oil & Gas Malaysia is claiming a record for the longest well drilled in Malaysia.

The PVD III rig drilled the Bunga Orkid C-29ST1 (BOC-29ST1) well in March in the northern part of the PM3 CAA production sharing contract (PSC) offshore Peninsular Malaysia to a total MD of 6,963 m, with initial production rates of about 4,000 bbl/d of oil.

This was the fifth well and the second oil producer of the six-well Bunga Orkid H4 reservoir infill drilling program. Three water injectors have also been drilled with a fourth planned in 2024 to round off the campaign.

In the same concession, PVD III drilled the Bunga Lavatera-1 exploration well from the Bunga Pakma A platform, reaching TD of 6,000 m in mid-April.

The well discovered gas in the primary and secondary target sands, and it has since been completed as a gas producer. Hibiscus anticipates startup during the third quarter following hookup of required topside facilities.

Although the reserves proven by Bunga Lavatera-1 are relatively modest, the company added, the results have strengthened its understanding of the geology in the PSC.

In the UK central North Sea, Hibiscus Oil & Gas expects to receive consent by mid-year from the UK authorities for its Teal West field development plan.

This calls for drilling of an oil producer well southeast of the structure followed by a water injector 12-18 months after first oil to the west of the structure.

Teak West would be connected to the company’s Anasuria FPSO 4 km away where the well fluids would be processed and exported via the Anasuria infrastructure.

Assuming approval does come through, drilling of the first well could start next May, with a non-commitment rig letter of intent already signed and ordering underway of long lead item.

The subsea tieback facilities would be installed in summer 2024 with first oil anticipated later that year.
